As the sun sets on another incredible Ulovane Community Guide Course, we want to extend our warmest wishes to our graduating students! Today marks the culmination of weeks filled with growth, discovery, and a deeper connection to the natural world.
This course has been a journey of profound transformation. We’ve witnessed these young individuals embrace new challenges with remarkable courage, stepping out of their comfort zones and into the wild. Their hands-on experience at Amakhala Game Reserve was a key highlight, where the bush became their classroom. The opportunity to shadow professional guides and run their own guided experiences in a Big Five environment was a powerful moment of growth for all.
One of our students, Vuyisanani Busakwe, shared his incredible journey with us. From a small township and a dream of becoming a professional footballer, Vuyisanani discovered a new passion through his internship at Nyosi Wildlife Reserve. He went on to become a Cheetah Champion and an ambassador for the Global Humane Conservation Fund of Africa. Vuyisanani’s story is a testament to the fact that passion can be found in the most unexpected places.
“I find it really amazing to be part of this training,” he told us, “it’s providing me with a lot of experience, knowledge, and self-awareness.” He was particularly fascinated by learning about plants, geology, and animal behavior, and was even lucky enough to witness lions mating—an experience that truly left him in awe.
We are immensely proud of each and every one of our students and the hard work they’ve put in. As you embark on your next adventures, remember the knowledge gained, the friendships forged, and the powerful connection you’ve made with the African bush.
Go forth and be the passionate, knowledgeable, and inspiring guides we know you can be! The Ulovane family will be cheering you on every step of the way.

The great teacher inspires.” Thank you, Schalk and Hein, for being the greatest of teachers and inspiring our students to be the best versions of themselves.
